Allaire Welk was sitting on horses long before she could walk. She rode ponies and showed in local events as a youngster and worked in the barn, helping wherever the need arose. Being a dual-enrolled high school/college student, she spent a year working at Hassinger Equine Service. There her duties involved greeting clients, preparing the feed for all the rehab horses, doing computer work, applying various treatment modalities to equine patients and helping in the clinic. She gained lots of knowledge of the latest cutting edge treatment options and their applications. She also assisted with the daily use of the Aquapacer. Here at Bradford Lane she is involved in all aspects of farm life. She walks, grooms and does barn work, but her favorite task is spoiling each and every horse in our care. Whether it is instruction in how to eat their first apples or the massage of sore muscles, her love of the horse is apparent in all she does... She cares for each of them as if they were her own and nurtures them with lots of TLC.. Dave Richards is the founder and owner of Equicast, Inc. a temporary hoof support system that helps restore integrity to a compromised hoof wall. Dave has been our farrier for the past 18 years. He also has a background in medicine being involved in ski patrol, mountain rescue and as an Emergency Medical Technician in New England. He became interested in shoeing horses and started his craft under the direction of Edward Grove a instructor from Michigan State University. In 1989 he moved to Southern Pines, NC and worked with many upper level trainers, riders and coaches. He developed the Equicast system which enables us to correct malformations of the foot which predispose a horse to injury. These changes can be incorporated quickly and in complete comfort using Equicast. Dave has been incredibly committed to helping many cases that had been given up on by others. He is always the first call we make when a new horse arrives. A solid foundation is key to the success of other treatments.
